3D MOBA Game
3D MOBA Game is an ambitious master’s degree project that brings the excitement of Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) games to life. Inspired by popular titles such as Heroes of the Storm, DOTA, and League of Legends, this project integrates complex game mechanics and advanced graphics to deliver an engaging and strategic gaming experience.
In this game, players command units that traverse one of three defined lanes, engaging in battles as they advance towards the opponent's base. The goal is to destroy the enemy’s base while managing and controlling various units with distinct behaviors. The game features a dynamic environment where units are guided along paths and react to the presence of enemies using sophisticated AI. Units move in predefined paths from two base points, and battles are simulated with a focus on tactical decision-making and strategic positioning.
The game utilizes vector-based controls and finite state machines to handle unit movements and interactions. Heroes navigate through the terrain, switching between objectives while simulating artificial intelligence to enhance gameplay complexity and challenge.
Key Features
- Lane-based Combat: Three distinct lanes where units move and engage in combat, adding strategic depth to the gameplay.
- Base Destruction Objective: The primary goal is to destroy the opponent’s base, requiring players to balance offense and defense.
- Finite State Machines: Utilized for managing unit behaviors and transitions between different states (e.g., idle, attacking, fleeing).
- Vector-based Controls: Precise movement and positioning of units using vector mathematics to enhance control and accuracy.
- Dynamic AI: Sophisticated artificial intelligence for both regular units and hero characters, simulating realistic and challenging opponents.
- Hero Characters: Unique heroes with special abilities and strategic roles, influencing the game’s outcome.
- Pathfinding: Automated movement along predefined paths with the ability to navigate around obstacles and react to enemy presence.
- Tactical Decision-Making: Units make decisions based on their environment and the actions of the player, adding depth to combat.
- Collision Detection: Realistic interactions and collisions between units and the environment using physics calculations.
- Environment Interactions: Interactive game environment with dynamic elements that impact gameplay.
- Multiplayer Support: Designed for multiplayer engagement, allowing teams to strategize and compete against each other.
- Customizable Units: Units with various attributes and upgrade options to tailor gameplay to individual strategies.
