Command Center
Command Center is a comprehensive, multi-year project designed to manage and analyze distributed and multithreaded computations across a network of machines. The system serves as the central hub for controlling various devices, including drones and peripherals managed by Raspberry Pi (RPI) and microcontrollers. With its modular architecture, the Command Center integrates numerous applications, components, and libraries, providing a robust and scalable solution for data processing, task management, and real-time monitoring.
The Command Center project is developed with a strong emphasis on object-oriented programming (OOP), design patterns, and advanced C/C++ programming. It leverages a wide array of technologies, including MQTT for messaging, MySQL for data storage, and Python for scripting. The project’s architecture is highly modular, allowing for easy expansion and adaptation to new requirements. The Command Center is divided into multiple applications, each with specific responsibilities that contribute to the overall functionality of the system.
The Command Center project is the culmination of years of development and innovation. It represents a significant achievement in creating a scalable, powerful, and versatile system capable of managing complex tasks across distributed networks. Whether used for controlling drones, analyzing data, or managing large-scale computations, the Command Center is a testament to the power of modern software development practices.
Applications
- Command Center Monitor: This is the primary GUI application responsible for gathering data from all machines connected to the system. It monitors their operations and assigns tasks based on the current needs. The application uses a MySQL database to track the machines within the system and MQTT for real-time communication, allowing it to send and receive commands efficiently. It provides a comprehensive overview of the entire Command Center's operations, enabling users to manage and oversee all ongoing processes effectively.
- Data Analyzer: Building upon the earlier Data Analyzer project, this advanced C++ GUI application collects, presents, and analyzes financial data. The Data Analyzer interacts with the MySQL database to retrieve data, perform statistical analyses, and display the results in an intuitive manner.
- TaskActivator: A C++ program that periodically checks the database for scheduled tasks left by the Command Center Monitor. It converts these cyclical tasks into single executable tasks and signals the appropriate applications and machines via MQTT to carry out the tasks. This application is crucial for maintaining the operational flow within the Command Center.
- TaskExecutor: This multithreaded application manages the execution of tasks within the Command Center. It retrieves tasks from the database, executes them, and then stores the results back into the database. The tasks can range from simple data processing to complex distributed computations. Multiple instances of TaskExecutor run across different machines within the Command Center, forming a distributed computing network.
- Network Logger: This application reads global logs from the Command Center stored in the database and displays them on a dedicated monitor. The Network Logger provides a centralized view of all activities within the Command Center, helping operators understand the system's status and diagnose issues quickly.
- Android Backend: This intermediary application facilitates communication between the Android application and the MySQL database. It enhances security and efficiency in database access by acting as a protective layer between the mobile app and the core system.
- PhoneAppMonitor: An Android application that allows users to remotely monitor the Command Center. It provides a mini-dashboard with essential reports and alerts, giving users real-time access to critical information from the Command Center.
- RPI Applications: These applications manage various devices connected to Raspberry Pi units, allowing control and access to peripheral devices, vehicles, and drones. They also collect data from these devices and store it in the database for later analysis. This ensures that all devices within the Command Center are seamlessly integrated into the overall system.
